Switching to UK Narrow Band: A Guide for Meshcore Users

Has the title says Meshcore users in the north west England have swapped over from UK Wide to the UK Narrow Band.

To enable UK narrow settings on a Meshcore system, you need to select the “EU/UK (NARROW) preset within the node/repeater’s settings menu on the companion app, which is typically accessed by tapping the three vertical dots above the frequency on the admin page. Both the client devices and the repeater should be set to the narrow mode to ensure proper communication, as the repeater needs to be on the same settings to manage the clients.

Steps to Enable UK Narrow Settings:

Access the Admin Settings: On the node or repeater’s admin page, locate the frequency section.

Find the Menu: Tap the three vertical dots (menu icon) that are located just above the frequency.

Select the Preset: From the menu, choose the “EU/UK (NARROW)” preset.

Apply the Settings: Select the tick or apply button to confirm the settings.

Verify Other Devices: Ensure your client devices are also set to the same narrow mode to maintain connectivity.

Why Use Narrow Settings?

  • Increased Speed: Narrower bandwidth settings can result in a higher data rate, which is perceived as a faster communication speed.

Compatibility:

Using the EU/UK NARROW preset ensures your devices are configured for the specific radio frequencies and regulations used within the UK, as recommended by the Meshcore developers.

Device Management:

For proper functionality and management of your Meshcore devices, all components (repeaters and clients) must be set to the same narrow mode.
