Meshcore is a decentralized, off-grid networking system designed to enable communication without relying on traditional infrastructure. I have been interested in Meshcore for a long time, especially its ability to operate independently in a decentralized way. Using only my Heltec V3 companion node, I found that I was unable to send or receive messages unless I was upstairs in my bedroom. Because of this limitation, I decided to set up a second Heltec V3 to act as a repeater in a upstairs window. However, this meant that both my companion node in the lounge and the repeater upstairs needed to remain plugged in all the time. That situation eventually led me to the idea of creating a solar-powered repeater node on a budget.
After researching i was looking into a suitable radio device to act as a repeater and i decided on the Seeed Studio XIAO nRF52840 & Wio-SX1262 Kit from Aliexpress due to the lower power consumption against using a ESP32S3 device such has my Heltec V3 i currently owned.

Next came the battery, a 1000mAH. Complete with built-in smart protective PCB charging module, effectively prevents over charging, over discharging, over current and short circuit. Also from Aliexpress.

Next up was something that is essential, a waterproof housing to hold all the components need internally. Like post i decided on a ip67 waterproof junction box, you guessed it also from Aliexpress.

Next item was the solar charge controller that allows MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) support and allows the battery, the solar panel and the Xiao NRF to be all connected together. Can you guess where from? Yes aliexpress.

Next to come along was a solar panel from our friends over at Aliexpress. This was a 10W 5V Solar Panel with a micro usb Type-C connector that you simply cut off to attach to the solar power controller.

We then need a mount for an antenna, this would be the housing mount Ipex to n type female, the board connector is also known has a U.FL/ UF/ MHF1 connector to an N-Type female.

Now finally an antenna, once again via aliexpress. This was a waterproof 3dbi LORA Ziisor 868mhz antenna.

So just buying the components weekly and keeping the costs has low has possible i finally built my solar repeater.
