SOS Radio Week – GB8SOS – Wales Digital Radio Group & Quantum Technology Club join forces

This month of May helps to promote SOS radio week, this year the event runs for the duration of the month of May. This amateur radio event helps to raise awareness of the work that is done by the RNLI Lifeboats, National Coastwatch Institution and Independant Lifeboats.

Two clubs, WDRG Wales Digital Radio Group and Quantum Technology Club have decided to take a little road trip over to Shell Island off the coast of Wales to set up camp and form a joint station GB8SOS.

They will collectively be operating the callsign GB8SOS on most bands, from Wednesday 14th May until Monday 19th May using vhf, uhf, dmr and ft8 radio modes amongst others. Listen out for them on the airwaves.

They have to arranged with the shell island hosts to allow electric hook and they will also run on their own solar power steam along with batteries.
